Yes, Don, they actually had numerous trains used for line maintenance and repair. Whether they had Berkshire locos or not, no idea. The Lionel Railroaders Club actually sold a big set some two decades ago...this is the locomotive (pictured) that headed the set. The set was offered one car at a time with each issue of the newsletter...we bought the whole thing. I don't think the set has been on the track here in its entirety.
