I don't know exactly what this is but I guess it could be an old tin-plate lighted control tower.

@walt rapp- Walt the tower that you show in your picture is a Marx # 424 "Radio Control Tower" It dates to the early 50's and came in two color schemes, yours being the later one. The earlier one is cream and green. It should have solid lithographed windows on two sides with the words "Radio Train Control" on the third. The 4th side is the one you have facing the camera in your picture. It has punched out window mullions backed by a plastic sheet which is connected to a breath operated butterfly switch. By blowing on that side you could activate the switch which acted like you were interrupting the power with the transformer and stopped or reversed the train. This tower was 11 1/2 " high.
I will include, also for my posting for Photo Chain Game, a picture of the companion tower, called the "Switchman's Tower" which was shorter, only 9 1/4 " tall but came in the same two color schemes, red/cream and green/cream. Mine in the picture below happens to be the green and cream. Here you can see the tower just over the "Starbucks" truck note red girder base vice black when the trim was green / cream vice red/cream.
Best Wishes, Don

Following Sitka and others. This station kit was my first build ever in O scale. It was bought from the (a) Lionel Store on Pearl Road in Cleveland. All closed and gone now.

@Don McErlean , thanks for taking the time to explain to me what I have and provide that background knowledge!!! When I bought my 2 tin-plate train sets I had this thought of starting to buy tin-plate style accessories - until I saw how expensive all of those accessories are!!!!! I saw this, the price was right, and it fit my idea of buying tin-plate stuff. It does light up.
I can't wait to set up this year's Christmas layout so I can try that "breath switch" action. That seems so odd of a way to be able to change the light.
thanks again Don

@walt rapp- Thanks for your comment. You are right, "blowing" into the switch seems odd, however Marx marketed the capability that you could direct your trains by "talking" into the tower like a microphone. Crude but supposedly you could say "Reverse" or "Stop" and the breath of your voice would be enough to activate the switch. Anyway let me know if it works!
For my "Photo Chain" entry, here is a picture of Model A type delivery truck, Walt has 2 or 3 in his picture.
Best Wishes to all, Don

my panel truck. I found this at a local train show ($5!!!) and the sole reason that I bought it was because the label on it says "Young" and my daughter's married name is "Young". BTW: that's a model of her house that I made so the truck belongs in front of it for sure.
