Thanks for the concern.  I'm still here.  Lots of actives keeping me busy lately.  I do come in to read one in a while but expanded family and expanded roles at work keeping me busy.  While also going back into old hobbies like golf.

My work bench has a project I started earlier this year March and it's still in the same state I left it 7 months later.  I need 6 gear boxes to re-power a Sunset GG1.  I saw some work by other folks and saw possible gearboxes from PSC.  NWSL unfortunately did not work out, weaker design than what sunset delivered (if only sunset powered all 6 axles this would be a non-starter).  While upgrading the drive, I also purchased journal ball bearings perfectly sized to replace what is currently a friction bearing.

Hope all is will with everyone here.

Mike,

I've analysed powering the Sunset GG1's 3rd axle ad infinitum. First with OEM gearboxes from Sunset. That solution did not work due to the truck bolster location. I have settled on dual sprocket and chain drives from the center axle to the undriven axle, with components from Sterling instruments. I hope to complete that before year's end, and will comment here on the results.

Prolly the best way to go with quick results.  I'm interested but my model is already in way to far to back out, gears were pressed off axles... worm shafts cut and upgraded with ball bearings.

Having access to machinery, I was going to mill a bolster from solid brass to replace the interfering unit.  this may be a multi year project
