These look great. I like the idea of a more realistic KD coupler. I expect them to last and last and.... like the pkg says. I wonder if they'll mate them with the plastic boxes. I don't see them on their site yet? Joe

The guy at Kadee says that they will fit the same gear boxes.

OK, that is just the #740. How about the other versions, offset head up, offset head down, and long shank? When will they be available and how much?

This week. According to the Kadee rep I talked to at the Amherst show they will be added to the website this week. I view all and purchased the 745 today. Two pair for 9 bucks. Dave_C purchased some of the offset couplers for doing Lionel rolling stock conversion.

They are available. Bought them all today. See the Springfield report.

Now if we can get them to do the "SF" and "SE" Shelf couplers for the tank cars.

Great news! Now I'm sorry I didn't go to the show and can't tomorrow.

Just installed my first set on my EP-5. The style with the head above the shank. They seem to work great and solved a difficult installation problem where the coupler heads were always too low.

I bought a whole pile of the short shank for MTH Diesels. They will get them first since those couplers are the most visible and a few of each other type. Very nice looking couplers!

That really saves a lot of work!

Anyone know if they are offering a height gauge for the new couplers? I have been waiting for these before I starting converting my equipment.

You mean that the long standing Kadee "height gauge", which is equipped with a #805 O-Scale coupler, will NOT work with the "new" Kadee, redesigned, couplers?

I sure find THAT hard to understand.

They are the same height and interchangeable with the old couples. The old height gauge will work.

The only issue I have is the plastic box they come with. Otherwise they are great. The 745 I purchased sorry to say won't work for the application I was hoping for but I'll find other cars for them.

Looking forward to buying the long shank version for my MTH passenger cars.

I have not found these on thier website and have not been able to order them from the hobby shop. Am I missing something? I just can't find them. Thanks for any help

I have been told they will be added to the Kadee website at the end of this week and be shipping to dealers later in February

Just looked at Kadee's websaite (kadee.com) and ckicked on the coupler page.   These new "type E" couplers are only listed with the plastic draft gear box.  I think this is great, because insulation is automatic and graphite lubrication is not needed vs using metal couplers in metal boxes.

If you don't want the plastic gearbox, the 740 is a new AAR Type "E" Coupler with an 817 metal gearbox.
