That train always blew by me at night when I was making the drop off at Campbell hall at night with the NS H07. That SU 99 hauls a lot of demolition debris and it has a big habit of flying out of the cars there because its a straight shot for them to build up speed while heading towards Middletown. It looks like there going 70+ because of the size of the train and when your standing up close to it.

 

According to legend C&O #614 hauling the "Erie Limited" was hitting speeds of 70mph through various sections of Orange County. While there is no reason to believe that the UTube videos show anything more than say 50mph, I have seen a commercial commemorative video shot by helicopter in the vicinity west of the M.Viaduct that might be a credible 70mph. Said video is supposedly narrated by none other than a Mr. Richard Melvin.
