I'm curious whether PTC knows the difference between a 100 car coal drag and a passenger train. The stopping distances would be quite different... I'm assuming before a train enters PTC territory , PTC has  all the data required   to  stop a train   in case of a crew error. (Tonnage, Engines  Crew , Stopping distance etc.) Right???

 Yes.

Ok thanks.... I don't think we have  PTC  north of the border just  yet although I believe it's in the near future for both freight and passenger.

Via is running out of experienced hoggers obtained  from CP, CN and others. Time  marches on... We still have 2  experienced engineman on our Passenger trains but   not for much longer   ,no PTC as well..
