I don't consider myself to be a "foamer", but this morning I deffinatly was. I caught the UP 1943 with the OCS in Berea, Ohio at 3:45 am.
Very nice video Steve! Im not able to see it in Allentown today, so Im hoping to catch 1943 when she returns, or maybe go to Croxton. Scrappy, has the yard master replied to you yet?
I saw it go around the Horseshoe Curve this morning around 10:00 am. It was heading east.
It's GOING THROUGH HARRIMAN ON THE PORT JERVIS LINE SUNDAY WOOOOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!
Heard its being stopped at the Rockville bridge for a photo op.

I also saw that on Virtual Railfan's camera. He slowed down considerably so people could get a good look or picture, and put on a good "horn show". There was a school group in the park, and they obviously loved it.
Looking at the information provided, and factoring the thoughts that it is taking the old New York Central Route. It more than likely went through were I live, though it seems like it was sometime between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM, so I more than likely would not have been able to see it.

Really? What with all the lights on it, I'm sure you couldn't have missed it.
I am somewhat close to the railroad track but not that close. That would be if I decided to watch for it. I do think the engine looks neat, but I choose not to see that particular engine. Also, I figured all that out today reading the different post as to where it has been sighted, as well as the website that Max cited.

Here is a link on Youtube that had the recording of when it passed through HSC.
Here's a link to a web page at UP with information about the cars that were included in this train as well as other historical equipment that UP has:

What time, and in which direction, north or south?

Odd to see a UP executive train this far east.
Actually, Harriman is on the ex-Erie line to Port Jervis and West Point is on the ex-NYC West Shore line. And, as Hot Water has noted, Harriman is on an NS line and West Point is on a CSX line.
Caught it in Piscataway, NJ
Hello,
Does anyone know if I can railfan it on Sunday? Thanks,
Ricky

I guess that depends on were you live, and whether or not you would be allowed out of the house.
Harriman was once President of UP. Harriman is also right near me. Uh oh . . . . . . I better get over there. There must be some type of ceremony scheduled to commemorate Harriman's association with the UP. I have made calls all over, MTA, NS, etc and I cannot get any info. If any of you get any info I would love to get over there for whatever will happen !!! It is only 45 minutes from me. I also have some calls into UP Corporate Media department and I will post if anything develops.

The UP special, reportedly will be departing Croxton Yard, on Sunday afternoon (June 3), about 1:15PM, following some NJDOT passenger train. Don't know what time the special is supposed to be at Harriman, nor how long it will stay there.
Hello,
I live right next to the Lehigh Line and 1943 went past it last night but I was not home. 😖. I live near Flemington NJ.

Thanks for the info, Hot Water. Assuming the NJ Transit train is a regularly scheduled one, it leaves Secaucus at 1:29, and is scheduled to arrive Harriman at 2:44. Of course, it could be a special.
Another interesting bit this weekend - bus service replaces trains between Harriman and Port Jervis because of emergency infrastructure work (Edit: from an MTA page, it's for the installation of a gas pipeline beneath the tracks near Port Jervis):
Changes on the Port Jervis line
David
Jack and David,
Many thanks for your help with the arrival times !! I will be there pending permission from the "Dispatcher."

Nice catches, all.
I did not realize the history of the 1943 until I stumbled over this u tube. Boy if MTH comes out with this Train combination in One Gauge I'm going to have to get the check book out again

Well, West Point has a DOD school for Army Officers, and the B-17 named S.O.U.P. was under the control of the US ARMY in WWII. So there is a connection between the locomotive and the Army.
The USAF did not become a branch of its own untill 1946 or 47.
Guess the UP special came on NS because of CSX policies. Or UP and NS are using the train as a marketing tool. I do not think UP would send the SPIRIT and the busines train this far off the UP system without a very good reason.
Now what is the route home?

None of what you posted has anything to do with why they are going to Harriman, New York! Besides, the NS tracks don't go to West Point anyway.
Now,,,,,,,,,,,,,doesn't the name "Harriman" ring a bell to any of you?
EX Prez, UP?
In 1903 E H Harrison was head person of UP. 115 year aniv?
Now, NS does not go to West Point. But buses could be used......
But if WP is not the goal, why bring th SPIRIT?

How would they buss UP #1943?????
But if WP is not the goal, why bring th SPIRIT?
Because the UP management wanted to!
Somehing Harrison would have been interested in is the "M" word. If not that, some sort of third company venture owned by both, say in intermodal?

Um, I think you mean Harriman, not Harrison. Harrison was the individual trying to destroy the CSX.

Thanks for spelling correction.
When does it start back? I tried the Rockville bridge with many others, but it got delayed by an issue with a train having a problem in front of it at Duncannon. I waited until 2pm, but had to leave. It crossed about 3pm. Weather was poor so pictures were likewise.
Does anyone know if it will be leaving Croxton today traveling up the Bergen County line?
Hi,
I believe it leaves. Croxton at midnight on Monday. Thanks,
Ricky
I was hoping to catch it in daylight hours
Taking a 2 hour drive up north soon to hopefully see it in Harriman. A big gamble...
