Me too. In the service manual pages for the "R" version of the ZW, they recommend crushing the old roller, and cutting the rivet in the center with a pair of diagonal cutters (Lionel called them "cutting pliers").  I use the pliers, I've never tried using a Dremel to cut the old rivet.

The rivets I tried to simply "cut" seemed pretty tough, that's why I opted for the Dremel.  It's pretty hard to get a grip on it, and you don't want to spread the ears, they're very brittle.  Seemed like a 'no risk" way to just cut it with a cutoff wheel.
