Well it's the Monday after York and what a great show it was. While this show as a bit different without all the manufacturers it was another excellent example of a train "meet". For me I had the chance to meet a lot of fellow modelers and viewers of my content. I can't thank those folks enough for coming up and talking to me or just giving a quick wave. I was able to talk with the dealers for a good bit of time, which is always nice. It was great having TrainWorld back this time around too.

Friday was pretty busy and I ended up with more boxes than I expected. I saw a lot of younger kids this year which is yet another sign of great things to come in this hobby. I was able to go back on Saturday with my daughter (6 years old) and we found her the Frozen set she has been asking for. This was her first TCA York show and it was great to let her run around for a bit with her friend who was also there.

There was a bit of a scuffle from what I heard in the blue or silver hall. Apparently some older gentlemen where arguing over $25. Sad to see such a poor display of civility from some seasoned members of the hobby.

Thank you to the Eastern TCA for continuing to put this show on. I filmed a quick recap of the show and a review of what I ended up with.

Yeah this show was definitely a little light in areas due to the lack of manufacturers. However it was still very nice. Got to meet a lot of followers of my channel and got to talk with tons of great dealers. Another great show in the books.

I was there when a couple men starting getting at it in the blue hall. Sad to see grown men fighting over the amount of $25. And people say the youngsters are the ones messing up the hobby. 😉

Thanks as always to the Easter Division of TCA for putting on the show!!

I'm glad to hear you both had a good time, I did as well! There were still plenty of vendors despite the reduced number of attendees and having fewer people in the halls gave everything a more comfortable and less rushed feel to the show (despite the pathetic roughhousing lol). It was great seeing so many fellow younger members too, especially when they were carrying large boxes out of the halls! I always enjoy talking to the vendors who are excited to see younger people getting involved; met some really great new ones this time around and saw some familiar faces too. I'm greatly looking forward to next Fall York and the direction that the hobby is going in general👍

It could be worse like seeing grown men fighting over how one variation of a 6464 boxcar or F3 is different from other. Nothing like Postwar Lionel trains to get a couple old guys fired up in the morning and make an entire York hall go silent in a matter of minutes.

(FWIW, I've never been to York but I was told about that actually happening.)

You made out very well my friend, those K4s are both stunning! Glad you found that frozen set too seems to be a hot seller recently. Really great news about how many young modelers were at this meet! gives me hope going forward, for a spring meet seems like there was a fantastic selection of product for everyone. Its a real shame hearing about this scuffle that occurred (fair ground police were involved btw for those who weren't there) That kind of behavior is not welcome here in are community. serves them right both were banned for the next 2 meets, good on TCAs part.

Glad to hear you and your daughter had a great time at the show.  It wasn’t the largest or busiest York I’ve been to, but I had a great time and so did my wife.  We both found plenty of great deals on cool stuff. Also, thanks for bringing our hobby and the York meet to so many people on line via YouTube.

here’s some of our loot.

Hi Chris, nice video!  Appreciate you showing some of the smaller items that you found at York. I also caught a glimpse of some prewar items in the video (I think anyway).  On the two times I was able to go to York, it was the chance to see museum quality trains, and would hope that the Eastern Division would see the value in allowing some videos or pictures to be taken.  It good to get your perspective on the meet.

Also great article in CTT!

Best, Dave
