Not a train but maybe train related  - taking my granddaughter for a wagon ride in sunny Charleston SC - she loves wearing my favorite NJ high-railers Trainstock hat 😊🚂

Happy 4th to all 🇺🇸

PS - I don’t know why, but I feel compelled to tell this little story - I have a gentleman who does some landscaping work around my house, he just arrived in this country last year - yesterday he asked me if I was a veteran. I told him I was not. Curious I asked why ? - his answer was any work on any veterans home over the Fourth of July weekend was free. I am a contractor myself, and I’ve never thought to do that - I guess the things we take for granted can mean so much to another person - his act of kindness has certainly made me reflect a little bit over this weekend

Here are a couple of mine with the Red White & Blue trains for the 4th.

Japanese Floor train, likely somewhat beyond 0 gauge closer to G gauge.  Not set up for track running but it has some really neat motion on a smooth floor.

Here is a little Marx GE 70 ton from the Cape Canaveral Express set, available 1959-1964.

Happy Independence Day everyone.

Indeed! Who needs train photos when you have such a pretty granddaughter to show us! She provides us all with a meaningful reminder as we celebrate the founding of our nation that we need to do everything we can to preserve Freedom and Democracy for her generation and beyond!

One of my dearest friends is currently at the Garden Railroad Convention in Sacramento, and I imagine she will be visiting your layout. Her name is Teya Caple-Woods and she is very active in garden railroading  (a superb modeler). Was once featured in Garden Railways magazine as well as in the garden railroading book that I published some years ago. If Teya happens to introduce herself to you when she visits, tell her Allan "warned you" about her. I'm sure that she will take plenty of photos when she visits, and will post them on Facebook.

Allan,

I will look for her.  For everyone's information, the Garden Railroad Convention is being held in Santa Clara, not Sacramento.  Santa Clara is where the 49er play football and is in the heart of Silicon Valley.  The convention hotel is directly across the street from Levis Stadium.

Anyone who is in the Bay Area on Saturday is invited to stop by the G&O whether you are attending the convention or not.  The G&O is open between 8 and 3.  The address is 1302 Orchard Avenue, San Leandro, CA.  Please introduce yourself to me, Joe Barker, if you visit the us.  I love meeting forum members.  NH Joe
