Postwar Trolley # 60 Problem

Hello , I was given a Postwar # 60 Trolley from a friend of mine. I put it on the track and it runs fine in one direction . When it hits the bumper it will not reverse it just stops. Ive never worked on one of these. I would appreciate any info you can give me on this problem .

The slide switch may be deformed, not making contact, or a wire could be loose/broken. These have a simple double-wound field coil wiring scheme and are quite straight forward. You should be able to chase this down with a VOM.
