I just got out my CP version of the Vision Line EVO after a long period on the shelf. Tried running it and found that the front drive mechanism won't turn. This seems to be a mechanical issue. Can't see anything stuck in the gears at least from below. Before I attempt anything like taking the body shell off to get at it from above thought I'd ask if these trucks twist off as with other Lionel locos? Any other thoughts as to how to remedy this?

Remove the front truck you will see it wont roll freely ..To fix this common issiue you have to remove the four screws from the top of the truck that holds the worm gear .Free up those bearings with oil put it back together and you be go to go.. Also check the the "T" thats attached to the motor to make sure that it didnt come off the motor.
What i have noticed is the grease gets hard over time and makes it hard to roll .. With 40 or so diecast evos passed threw my hands i have seen alot of these ..
You have oversized tires. Cut them off and replace them with MTH tires. Look inside the sideframes and you will see this.
Thanks both. I checked the tires first thing but they are OK. After I worked out that these are twist off Lion trucks I finally figured out that it was indeed the bearing in which the worm gear turns - totally seized up but now turning freely.
These models were prone to wheel rust when they came out and there was what looked like corrosion or maybe dried out grease on the bearing when I peered at it with a Magnavisor!
Thanks again.
