Lionel catalog a little vague. Do the Powermaster 180 & 360 provide power to the track or are they just a replacement for the TPC 400 and still require power to be provided? Would one of these still be required for conventional operation if using a Legacy 990? Thanks for all responses and Merry Christmas!

The PM-1 is exactly like the TPC, and came first, but not requiring a Command Base to function. To use with Legacy, a PowerMaster Bridge is required.
Thanks for your response. I cannot find a Powermaster Bridge on the Lionel website, does it have a different name?
The new LEGACY Powermasters are the replacements for the TPC 300/400. They work great from any Legacy 990 or TMCC systems as they revive the same track signal as the locomotives. No extra data wires needed. They do still need a power source. They have the Molex connector used on the PowerHouse so if you use anything else you’ll need an adapter cable

It should be noted the 996 Powermaster bridge is only needed if you have a original TMCC powermaster and wish to operate via the 992 cab-2. Unless you find a really good deal on some old equipment I’d really recommend a LEGACY PowerMaster. It does allow to control the track voltage for conventional operation and paired with a 180w PowerHouse if the PM breaker doesn’t go first the 180 breakers is about best in the biz.
Question? If I have a Legacy Powermaster, then I don’t need a Powermaster Bridge?
Correct if it’s a legacy pm no need for the bridge. The legacy PM picks up the same 455KHZ track signal that the locomotives pick up. The original PM uses the Cab-1 frequency so the bridge take command from the legacy base and retransmits them as if they came from a cab-1 so the original PM can receive and respond
hope that wasn’t confusing

27Mhz, no, not confusing.
Thank you guys.
