Several of my Legacy engines seem to start up when I turn on track power before I use my remote to start them up. The rail sounds go on, but I am not able to give any commands through my controller. I can not stop the rail sounds through my controller or start the engine moving. Sometimes when I turn of and on the track power several times, the track sounds will go off with the track power on. When that happens, then I can run my engine. What can I do to remedy this?

Try powering to your command base first, then the track.
Thanks for the advice; but, unfortunately it did not work.
I suggest checking that the Legacy Base U post connection wire is secure and also that it's firmly connected to the outer rails. If you have an Ohm meter, with the Base and track power off, check this connection's resistance between Base U post and outside rail. Resistance should be close to zero (no more than a few) Ohms.
What are you using for track power? I use a Z4000 and sometimes that happens if I didn't raise the handle fast enough.
