I have a Lionel E6 (6-28706) that I'm going to have converted to PS/3 by a local MTH tech. I've starting pulling stuff in the engine and then realized I probably should've asked here first. Right now in the engine, all I have is the motor, headlight/cab light and TMCC MB. The tender is still stock. For the engine am I good to go there? I'd like to have an MTH smoke unit put in as part of the work. What do I remove in the tender?

I remember you did a video on this engine. What was wrong with it.

Nothing really. I just really want the passenger announcements on this one.

I understand. I am just a big fan of early tmcc products.

The late RS5 TMCC stuff is my favorite but I like the passenger announcements in MTH stuff.

I do love the Rs5 stuff.
You should have left it alone and let your tech do it. In some cases residual parts may be used, especially for a Stream engine that will PS-32 board installed. Markers, lights can be custom size an a PITA to change out. Switches and volume pots can be reused. G

Next time I will. The only switch that was worth keeping in the engine was the smoke switch but even so, I run command so it's a moot point.
Ditto GGG's comments. If it's about saving time for the installer, the fast part of the job is removing the stuff you don't need. If you want to keep the old parts, the installer will likely be happy to ship them back to you with your upgraded engine, IMO.
