Where can I get a smoke unit for this Prewar Lionel ? Also I was wondering if any one replaced the e-unit with an electronic one yet in this units? Also has any place LED in of these units?

Prewar didn't have smoke. A postwar smoke unit may be modified to fit, but don't know which one.
Kris,
brr is 100% correct. Besides, there is next to no room at all for a smoke unit or any of the proper points to connect the linkage.
As for your electronic reverse, there's next to no room to properly mount the board. I have yet to see anyone install LEDs into one of these classics.

Speaking of 238E's, did anyone else notice that the Hallmark 2014 Lionel replica ornament was the 238E? It also comes with a 265T tender and a 601 obs. Picked up mine just yesterday to bring my Hallmark collection up to date.

There used to be an electronic E-unit that was made on a board shaped like the side view of the old fashioned E-unit. It was made to fit in the space where the old E-unit fit.

Moving the light bulb would open a lot of room on any train.
Loose the brass tube and it looks like a Lionel Hotbox car unit.
Opening the intake port just a bit, is the "big easy" for much better performance. For offset mounting, it should push up a tube fine. I bashed with one. Had to add a tube though. Used brass bushings, JB weld, and rubber tube from a coffee maker.
