These are mostly Tamiya and Bandai kits that I have built and mounted onto flatcars.  I do not follow strict DOD transport protocols as I personally dislike tank turrets facing backwards, tarped gun muzzles, and empty machine gun cradles...  However, tie down hard points and chocks are as accurate as I could make them.

Chris,

Thanks!  Yes, they are all O scale.  Tamiya (and formerly Bandai) makes a line of 1/48 armor kits under the Military Miniature series.  Mostly WWII, but a few modern pieces as well.  They are available on "that" auction site... generally around $20-25 per kit.

The chains are purely decorative for my flats; the vehicles are either superglued to the deck or they have a nut/bolt combo through the deck and floor of the vehicle.  That depends on whether the vehicle has an open area or not.  Also, I weight my vehicles so that the vehicle(s) plus the flat car comes out to NMRA weight specs.

Glad you enjoyed looking at them.

Paul,

I ordered some balsa wood already cut into 5/8” leg 45-45-90’s by 2 feet long off of Amazon.  For ten sticks it was a little over $20 with shipping.  Definitely not something I would want to rip on a saw...  I then just cut off a stick whatever width is appropriate for the vehicle tire or track and weather using isopropyl alcohol and shoe polish wash.  Hope this helps- any other questions just ask.
