I am posting this to help other forum members who may encounter the same problem.
I have a PS 3 system from a Railking GG1 which I installed into a brass 2 rail GG1. The PS 3 transpant worked fine, but I had difficulty renaming the engine.
The PS 3 came out of a RailKing GG1. MTH Number 30-5118-1, Road number 4913, Delivered July 2012. I tested it as soon as I got it and before I pulled the PS3 out. Everything worked. I sucessfully changed the address from #1 to #26 before the transplant.
After I installed the PS 3 in the new GG1 I tried to change the name. I got a sequence of messages which read: “CHECK TRACK” then: “ENGINE NOT ON TRACK” then: the engine came up reading 25 SMPH. But it was not moving. If I turned the system off and back on I could access the engine and had complete control over it. But it retained the original unwanted name.
I solved the problem by changing the address of the engine. In my case from #26 to #27. After that I was able to easily change the name.
Some background information:
The track signal on my layout varies between 8 and 10.
I tried changing the name on a piece of test track, with no other engines connected.
I have made three other such transplants, with no issues at all
I am using DCS version 4.10 on the remote, Rev I3A on the TIU
