Keep getting a message that says it is having a hard time locating a TIU connection and to cycle power on and off. I do that, but the same message keeps appearing.

I have a new Rev. L TIU and am using a USB connection from the TIU to the computer. I also have a separate aux power supply, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I use it or not.

Computer is a new HP running Windows 10.

Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong  ?

The video is for an older TIU that does not have a USB port and uses a serial connector. They show a 9 pin serial connector (to the TIU) to a USB connector to the computer.

However, I was under the impression that on the newer Rev. L TIU's I could just use a cable with a USB Type B connector on one end to the TIU and a regular USB on the other end to the computer. My computer does not have a serial port. On page 135 of the "Companion" .... "for the REv. L TIU only, a USB cable that has a Type B USB connector on one end and a connector that fits the PC on the other end" - which is what I am using.

The loader program seems to know that I am using a COM4 port and not the serial port ?

Hi Joe - is that the jumper you mean ?

Thanks.

I believe the USB connection will also power the TIU (which was not a problem with the serial port only TIUs). Could be why you are getting the messages to cycle power even when the aux power is disconnected.

I am also thinking I have read here that you can do the update with the USB only powering the TIU. Not positive on that one, memory is not what is used to be... I am also thinking I had a similar problem on my last upgrade (been a while), but again the old memory isn't providing enough to say for certain.

Success - I think. I picked up a jumper cable and the program found the TIU on the computer and the software went through a typical loading screen and finish.

I don't have a remote and not sure if there's a way to verify the TIU's software version using just the premium app.

The fabric jumper cable is available at Staples for $5.99 as Model BL 1893 - the SKU is 680988182938, for anyone interested.

Now on to the WiFi unit !

Thanks, everyone.
