I swapped out a PS2 5V board with one I had that works without sound. When I added the engine after the swap it shows the old engine info. I downloaded the sound file thinking this may change the engine id info. The sound file loaded fine and I did a factory reset on the engine. When I powered it back up it still came up with the old engine info. Can anybody tell me where this info is kept and if you can update it.

Edit engine info in the remote.
if you ever have to do a reset it will revert back to the original data.
You can take it to a shop to have the serial data changed permanently.
As Dave says, you need the Dealer loader program to permanently update the engine info.
Thanks for the quick replies!
as far as the no sound your audio amp might be blown or dead. the ic amp can easily be replaced i have them in stock by an asc tech! i could replace your chip and using service loader assign your board a engine number and what you want assigned for the remote to see! once the loader is assigned your id with stay in you engine board even if you reset the board!

Before jumping into a amplifier replacement, I'd check the speaker and wiring, they're likely suspects.
