I saw this photo on Pin interest this morning and really am not sure I believe it. Has anyone else seen one of these mallet type turbines? It would be fun to build a model like this with two Lionel engines kit bashed together.

Here's the page that "photo" came from. There are some other OMG machines there as well.

some sweet looking fantisey engines, LIke the Pennsyfied A,and the C&O 4-10-6
Thank you for the confirmation. I always admired the PRR as they made their own equipment but fake news is the new reality. The engine would be possible but probably never was built.
Even if it had been built, I think only straight track would have worked.
If the info out there is right ( PRR fans please chip in), the PRR 6-4-4-6 S1 had trouble with curves.
Then there was that Russian 4-14-2 beast...

There are a lot of people on here that know more than I do, but I suspect a configuration like that for a steam turbine might not even be possible. The PRR S1 used in inordinate amount of steam up to 40 mph. Like the triplexes and compound articulateds, I suspect a 6-6-6-6 turbine would have run out of steam fairly quickly.
However, Baldwin in the teens did develop plans for massive articulateds that dwarfed the 2-10-10-2 that the Santa Fe experimented with.
