Been a while since I posted pics of an upgrade. Here are some of a brass upgrade to PS-3. These always provide unique challenges to over come. Adding smoke, placement of tach reader, Tender shell construction, etc... Used the latest PS-3 Sound file on this one.

G, they’re even a challenge when upgrading to ERR.
Smoke is always fun in some of the 3rd rail stuff. The ones with multiple stacks are a bit of a PITA, I end up build a smokebox out of brass to made with the stacks.
The only thing I'd do different on this one is cut the brass tube shorter in the stack so it's not so obvious.
Nicely done, how about a video?

Actually, will paint black, it centers the smoke unit, removes the gap and makes filling easier. The protrusions on the top inside of the shell, and the method of mounting did not allow a taller normal MTH stack. To remove this smoke unit, that brass tube gets pulled off from outside, remove the 2 mount screws under the shell, then slide smoke unit out. Again, each has a different challenge. Notice how the speaker was mounted on this Vanderbilt shell, plus the solid brass support that tether needs to go over then the speaker slot cut to prevent pinching wires. G
