Hello, all, recently acquired an MTH RK

30–1 118–1 Pennsylvania torpedo. PS one version. THE SOUNDBOARD I BELIEVE NEEDS SOME WORK. IT DOES HAVE A BCR IN IT. HOWEVER, I KNOW THAT THE CHUFFING IS NOT SYNCHRONIZED, IT IS NOT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. TRAIN COULD BE AT FULL THROTTLE. IT’LL STILL SOUND LIKE IT’S JUST STARTING OUT. IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS TO LOCAL HOBBY SHOP TO HAVE REPAIRED, BUT I’M CURIOUS AS TO THE COST. DOES ANYBODY KNOW ON AVERAGE ABOUT HOW MUCH IT’LL COST TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED?

There are reset codes to reset the chuff on PS/1 boards, I doubt there's anything physically wrong with the board.  The chuff rate is determined from the voltage on the motor, that's assumed to be proportional to speed.

You can first try a Reset-18 to reset all the features to factory default.  You can also try a Reset-27 to reset the chuff rate.

Note one error in the page below, it's 5 Clanks and 2 Clinks to set the chuff rate.
