PS2 Diesel Upgrade Issue

My Dash9, Premier, was PS2 upgraded and ran for several months ok. Recently it lost all sounds. Starts up, motors run, direction changes correctly, all lights work but no sounds. I removed the shell and found no wires shorted or interfering with other wires. Tried the reset several times - nothing. Reuploaded the sound file - nothing. The 2.4v battery is full charged. At York, an MTH technician said it is the 'audio amp', which is in the processor board.

I would not wish to send the PS2 unit to MTH mainly because of the time.

My question is this: Is there a technician, on this forum who can help? I would gladly sent the boards to hin.

There are a number of them, including me. The audio amp is replaceable and is the likely cause. Before sending it anywhere, make SURE the speaker is good.

Speaker is good, I clipped (alligator clips) to another locomotive and it functioned well.

GGG does audio amp replacements, as do others.

I just sent him one of mine for the same issue.

The audio amp is one of the few components you can replace on both the 5V and 3V boards pretty easily.

When your locomotive was upgraded, did the tech use the volume pot or bypass it? GGG lives in your state. I will test boards if you want to send them out but GGG is your closest bet. Did you check continuity between the speaker wires (position 6 and 7) on the board to the speaker?

The tech was me. I have years of experience working with sensitive pcb's (Alcatel Data Networks and Verizon O-C48 and FIOS provisioning). Yes- the volume pot is there and has been run 'up'.

How do I get in touch with GGG to send him the bosrds?
