Does anyone know if it would be possible to transfer the Protosound 2 components from something like an MTH PCC trolley to a conventional Lionel GP9 (DC) to provide DCS operation?

I have put a few PS2 set-ups into other engines. I haven't done that exact swap. The most important thing is to make sure the wiring is correct. Don't use the chassis for the return power. Everything needs to be electrically isolated. The bulbs and any components need to match the PS2 board before they are connected.
Make sure that the recipient engine has a flywheel, otherwise, it is all for not.
I seem to recall from some writing that the trolley units have a difference. Wait for Gunrunnerjohn or GGG to chime in.
Subways, the GG-1 with operating pantographs, the Coors Light Silver Bullet, etc. require a special FLASH edition of the PS/2 board for additional memory. Not sure if the Trolleys need the FLASH board as well.
