Using the wire diagram and Diesel Upgrade notes by GGG made this upgrade bearable.

The only unanswered question is the smoke unit.  I have a PS2 smoke unit and will be

installing that in the Diesel PS3 upgrade.

Pins 8 and 10 are brown wires for return off the heater element, I assume you can use either one.

Pins 16 and 18 are green wires for the fan.  Same thing - I assume, you can use either one for return.

The PV for the fan  - pin 14 Blue?

Where is the PV for the heater?  Can I split the PV on pin 14 and use it for both fan and heater?

thanks,

bruce

Make sure you wire the fan correctly, polarity is important.  George's extra notes are very useful for the installation, the early MTH instructions are woefully inadequate.  I strongly recommend you remove any wires you won't use from the harness, the tiny tangle of wires is almost unmanageable without doing that.  Plan out the installation first and it'll go a lot smoother.

Thanks, VADarthDad for pointing out the current wiring diagram.

There is an error in the speaker wire provided in the kit.  The Yellow/White wires on the female connector are reversed.

See attached photo.  Pin 26 is speaker -, pin 28 is speaker +.

The provided speaker wire is reversed.  I think I should reverse the pin-outs on the speaker wire.

Correct?  Also note that I use an anti-static mat w/wrist strap.

Finished running all the very small wires, lites, speaker (repinned  the speaker wires to correct polarity), connected the smoke unit and did the initial test run.

Everything works correctly - EXCEPT -  Ditch Lite #1.  I know the purple wire is good because the MARS lites on pins 35 and 37 work.  The black wire from pin 39 has continuity from the 40 pin connector thru to the molex.  Obviously - no signal is getting to pin 39 from the board.

Is there any other way to activate ditch lite #1?  Can I use the MARS lites pins 35, 37?

Or - is this normal operation until software and flash code are loaded?

Bruce, do you have a link to where GGG's notes and diagram are housed?

The fan leads must be the proper polarity to have the fan run in the correct direction.  The gray wire from pin 21 is the positive lead, the green wire (either one) is the negative lead.  Do NOT connect the fan to pin 14, you'll have smoke and more if you do that!

If you don't already have this diagram, it's useful to trace things out, you'll see how the fan motor is connected.
