I  have a rdg heritage unit with ps3 that is acting strange.  When lashed up, or more properly mu'ed, after a few laps it starts making thiis weird clanknig noise and the lead engine sounds don't seem to work.  The noise stops when thelashup is sstopped. Additionally this engine seems to get lost and not recognized by the dcs fairly often.  I  have done the factory reset and the feature reset.

The tiu is an older version  but the software was upgraded at the fall dcs user's group meeting and I don't seem to have a similar problem with other engines.

Is there any known software glitches with the heritage engines? If so is there a download-able fix? Engine #20-20271-1

Thank you both.  that solved the noise problem.

I am still trying to figure out active vs. inactive engines.  This same loco ended up in my dcs under three different addresses.  I managed to delete two of them and was able to create a three unit consist.

Is there a way to make a unit other than the lead unit sound the horn when in a lashup.  I was running a railking steam engine in front simple because it has no front coupler.  I would like to hear the diesel horn along with the whistle. Is that possible?

btw - I bought the book, but I can't find the dang thing.  I may have to buy another copy digitally!!

Yes sort of. Remember ID sticks with the engine unless Edited , factory reset or if the existing ID is not available they add at the lowest available ID.

What you end up doing is giving 2 engines  the same ID number and they behave as one engine. How do you do it... Take the diesel  off the track . Lets say it had ID 5.   Now delete it from the remote to open up ID  5.  Edit the steamer to ID 5.  Put both on the track and they will behave as one. double horn & whistle.  Not perfect when it comes to couplers. maybe put the steamer on the lead.

Just an option.
