When I sell an item that I have listed here, sometimes I am able to click on the trash can icon and delete the post and other times there is no trash can icon to click on so I just type in sold. What is the proper way to delete a for sale post?

Once a post has a reply, only the editor can remove it.
Now, since I replied, only OGR can take it off.
But, you can edit it - For example, change from selling to sold.
Just change your title to SOLD.

If there have been no replies to your first post, you can delete it yourself. However, once that first reply gets posted, you can no longer to that, but we can!
If your item has sold, just edit your first post and change the TITLE of your thread to "SOLD" or "DELETE" and we will take it from there. It may take a day or two because we don't do this every day, but eventually we will delete it.
That is the answer I was looking for.
