Listen to the advice posted thus far.  Until you see these cars in person, you won't really appreciate what 89' looks like in O-scale!!!    Even if they somehow worked on 0-48'curves, they'd look utterly silly.

They're terrific cars.  But if you don't have real estate on the layout for them, have you given thought to the display shelves?  MTH also makes a nice version, but they are not quite scale -- measuring in at 18" or so.  That's still a stretch on O-48 curves.

Lionel made several roadnames during the LTI years I believe, and these are even much smaller than the MTH models.  But they might be the only ones out there that will actually "look right" on O-48 curves.

Those Lionel "traditional" auto carriers were one of the worst-looking attempts to model an actual prototype.  I'm sure Lionel did the best I could, but it was evidence that 89' autoracks don't belong on small radius curves.

Just my opinion...

Thank you for all the replys.  I figured they would have some serious overhang.  Some day I will rebuild with larger curves.  I currently am running a scale GG1 and it overhangs a lot but works fine.  For now I will pass on the Autoracks.  I would also think the stack cars would be out also.

thank you, Jon

Jon,

To answer your question, they will not go through my O-48 FasTrack curves that I use for my Christmas layout.
