QUESTION ON TMCC CRANE CAR

Alex - I had this issue once. I did a program reset of the crane and it's worked fine ever since. That might be one solution.

I have this exact crane car Alex, I assume you have it programmed as a crane on the legacy remote, the legacy remote has icons for these cranes. In any case, there are two lighting buttons, #4 position on the remote is also the front headlight on/off icon, both front headlights should turn off and on together. The #5 position is the rear headlight icon, this button will turn off and on only the rear light.

I recall a thread with this same problem posted some time in the past, you may want to do a search and see what you can find out.

Dave I'll try a factory reset later.

Rick when I start it up only one light will light and if I press number 4 it will toggle from light to light but only one will light.

    Its possible that on one of the lights, the leads are switched.

But if I toggle from side to side each light will still work.

Do a factory reset and it should fix the issue.  If it doesn't let me know.

Everyone keeps saying this but the manual says nothing about a reset. How do you do a reset?

Neil I was just going to say the same thing, I looked at the manual and no mention of a full factory reset. Jim can you tell us how to do the full reset.

Alex, The car runs best with legacy 1.4. In that control system you will find the crane car icons and have rear and front light control. 

Has anyone ever found out the full factory reprogramming code?

Mine suddenly went dead but for one light.

I would try just resetting to a new address number.

Tried resetting with new engine number and it didn't work.

Mike's video for the use of cab2 with the crane shows the 0 button in the crane overlay as the crane reset button. Watch from 3:58.

Worst case, someone was inside and the lead for one of the front lights is reversed. they seem to be polarity dependent. From the Lionel service document

I only have a TMCC system. Using Aux1 #0 for engine reset didn't work. I can see the light blinking when I give the crane a command but nothing happens. 

Stumped. 

Gerry - Sounds like we have similiar problems. I have a 6-19897 crane car. I use TMCC only. My problem is that nothing works on the top part (lights, boom, little hook, bog hook, rotation) but the bottom part works fine (couplers and outriggers) I have tried assigning different IDs but no luck.Did you find out how to do a factory reset or do you have any suggestion?  THANKS!

Well, 2 weeks and $160 later I have a working crane car. Sent it to Lionel, they replaced the 691CRAN01 PCB/MOTOR DRIVER BOARD for $100 plus $60 labor.

So I'm happy.....
