Today I signed up for TCA so i can go to York. To register for york you need your Tca number which won't come for a couple of days. So my question is can i call TCA and request my membership number so I can register for York?

I think the price went up after March 1st. You could register at York - you should have your TCA # by then. Nothing special about registering ahead of time except for a discount (and not having to do it there!).

Okay, thank you. I was just starting panic, it's my first time going there. If someone else is coming with me but doesn't have a TCA membership they're allowed in right? My mom is coming with me.

Any guests need to be registered, paid for, and a badge given to them to wear.

According to TCA's Toy Trains Mailing list (Yahoo), the advance registration period has been extended to Tuesday, March 8th. Call TCA Headquarters 717-687-8623 x101.

And get there oily.
Not many TCA folks, just OGR tca folks.
Joe, you get a 10 minute misconduct penalty for that reply!!
You can also register on line on the TCA website.

And any guest can only attend one time as a guest. If your mom is to come again in the future she must become a TCA member.
TCA members family members can be (I'm not sure what the word is) associate members for $2 extra per year. I have my wife as an associate member just in case she attends the show. I am not sure how this works for family members other then wife and children. I politely suggest that you find out about it when you call the TCA this week. You don't want to pay an additional $50 in dues in case you want your mother to attend the October York too. It's a great show and you just might get hooked!

What does that mean?
It probably means that if you're not on the OGR forum, it's unlikely you'll be going to QS&L. It's more of an OGR gathering than a TCA thing. Not a bad thing, just the way it is.
You got it right MARTY. That is just what a meant to say.

Unless the rules were just changed, your spouse (wife) and children under 18 do not have to be associate members to attend the York train show. They must be registered. As far as I know, a parent of a member must be a TCA member to attend more than once as a guest.
When I register for the York show, I always register my wife just in case she decides to attend. I've never registered her as an associate member.
While discussing family stuff, I might as well throw in the TCA Kids club.
My kids were members. They received newsletters from time to time.
Kids Club members can switch to adult membership when they turn 18.
They get a 1/2 price discount on their dues until age 24. But they have to remember to ask for it.
Most of the time we forgot.
C.W. Burfle, thanks for the information. I didn't know that.
One last thing, what time does the show start and conclude each day? Im driving from Youngstown, Ohio on friday and I was just wondering
Thursday the halls open at noon. The dealer halls close at 6:30, and member halls close at 5:00. Friday, all halls open at 9:00 AM. Dealer halls close at 6:30 and member halls close at 5:00. Saturday, halls open at 9:00, and close at 2:00. The member halls close earlier to allow members to shop the dealer halls.

And allow extra time to account for the fact that you will likely run in to some sort of rush hour delays along the route.
Are you leaving at around 3-4 AM?

Peter Condro, (Putnam Division), organizes a breakfast at the Around The Clock Diner for 8AM, I think that's the right time. The diner is at the intersection of US 30, and I 83. I went for the first time in October, and the food is good, and the OGR members I met are some nice folks. If Peter i setting it up again, there should be a post forthcoming. Enjoy your first of hopefully many more trips to York.

Last October I attended York and I was able to do the show in about 10 hours total, (give or take). I left Parma, OH Thursday @ approximately 06:00 hours and arrived at the fairground just a little after 12:00 hours. Stayed at the Super 8 in York Thursday night. Arrived back at the Fairgrounds about 08:45 on Friday and was on my way home by 14:00 hours. I didn't have my wife with me on that trip so I was able to cover a lot of ground rather quickly and efficiently. The key was to have a plan and just "skim" over the tables for items that I didn't know I needed until I saw them. You'll have a great time!
