Is it my imagination that the PS 2 sounds were better then the recently released PS 3 version? If this is so can I download the sound file from one version to the other ?????

PS3 sound files are different from PS2 ....
what is different, I recently repaired a ps3 f3 set, I have a ps2 of the same engine and the ps3 was considerably better... more details in the sounds
I agree that the sounds in PS 3 have better clarity. I just think that the voices on the PS 3 are different then the PS 2. I feel that the PS 2 sound file sounds more like the actual R-142's in service by the MTA. So I am asking can I put the PS-2 sound into a recently released R-142 that has PS 3?
To the best of my knowledge no, when you download PS2 , you download a single file, when you download PS3 there are two files, the chain and sound.
Here's a good thread on PS2/PS3 sound files and contains a lot of great info.
Down the thread a bit is a post from Barry listing which sound files can be used with which systems.
John,
Yes, you can load a 3 volt PS2 sound file into a PS3 engine.

The chain file is separate from the sound file and does not need to be reloaded when loading a 3 volt PS2 sound file in a PS3 engine.
Thanks Barry, I didn't know that...always learning !
John; You are correct the PS-2 sound file is different from the PS-3 version. I have the new R-142 and I noticed it is a little different from the PS-2 R-142 I heard on YouTube. I'm OK with it but it is good to know you can switch over if you choose.
Thanks guys. Barry, the PS3 sound file just doesn't have that NYC MTA sound so I'll attempt to do the PS 2 one. Chris, I'm glad you were able to hear the difference.
THE NEW SET SOUNDS LIKE INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU LOL
