I’m doing a standard gauge layout and I have ordered track but it’s in backorder status. My question has to do with the 42 curved track. I scribd an ark of 21 inches but I’m not sure if this represents the centerline meaning the middle rail or the inside or outside of the track. If I actually had the track in hand I could probably figure it out very easily but I’m trying to get a jumpstart on the layout without the track having arrived. Any assistance is appreciated.

Depends upon the track system you are using...
This would be standard gauge MTH real trax.
from old Lionel catalogs here are two indications...

Thank you for this useful information. That would suggest that 42" diameter track is measured from the outside rail. If 40 3/4" is center rail to center rail and the distance between the inside rail and the outside rail is 2 1/4" then adding one half of the 2 1/4" or (1 1/8") to the 40 3/4" is 41 7/8" which is pretty close. Does that sound right to you?
Here you go. Just measured it. 45 5/8" to the outside edge. I didn't take a picture of it but the center rail distance is indeed 42".

not that i ever considered it due to the restriction of any imaginative layout design and its total lack of solid power distribution, but combined with it's deviation from traditional Standard Gauge dimensions, another reason why i'd never buy that ridiculous looking track.
That's awesome! Thanks for taking the time and effort to send me the photos. Now I can keep moving forward. Much appreciated.
You're welcome, sir. Have fun.
