Arnold : You post a lot of pictures of trains on your layout, but I had never seen the "river" before, what a great scene!!

Railfanning the New Haven:
I am thrilled with the way the marine scenes on ny layout have turned out. You can see some of the water, boats and barges in the above video.
IMO, modelling rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and the ocean can greatly enhance the aesthetic beauty of a layout. I highly recommend the YouTube video: Marklin of Sweden Toilet Paper Plus White Glue Equals Realistic Water, for those of you who might want to add water scenes. Arnold

More railfanning, this time along the ocean.
This marine scene was simply done by draping a dark green crinkled drop cloth over the washing machine and dryer and placing a barge and the Lionel NY Central tugboat over it:
