I have an MTH WM Railking Imperial Challenger that is only a couple years old.  I was running it the other night and it went from running normal to instantly losing power and stopping cold.  I reset the DCS, rebooted the TIU etc, nothing.  Then I tried it conventionally, nothing and no power.  I know there is power to the track because other engines run fine.

I took apart the wireless drawbar to check for loose wires, connections etc.  Put it back together and still nothing.

I then took the tender apart to see if any wires had come loose.  While looking at the board in the tender, one of the capacitors (I assume) on the bottom side of the board looks like it might be blown.  (See attached picture).  Could this be my culprit?  If so is this normal and is the solution to replace the whole board or can you replace just the capacitor.

If this is not the culprit, what else should I be looking for?

I have PSX-AC circuit breakers on all my track outputs as well as TVS diodes at every track connection.   Power is from a Z4000.  I have REV L TIU and a WIU.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

That is odd, have seen supercaps go bad, but not leak like that.  Best is to have tech with PS-3 test set test the tender board and also the boiler board in the engine.  I suspect the tender board is bad.  Boiler can be effected but may be good.  Then replace the tender board.  If all else is good and that cap is bad, that may be the issue.

I can test just board if removed, if no tech in your area.  G
