Thought I'd have some fun by starting a topic to share pictures of the railroad WITHOUT Trains / Railcars in the image. Do you have any to share?

I apologize if you meant for this thread to be only for photos taken by the poster himself but...
...I thought this was a great photo. I did not take it.

A beautiful picture is always appreciated, especially if it's train related. WES
Wes, thank you for your kind words.
Hey Mike - this thread is for anyone to post their pics of "trains without trains". I always enjoy seeing the varying perspectives.

Missing the rails.
CN Tower (Toronto) rapid transit rails. Photo taken in 2012 as my wife and I were leaving the Tower after enjoying dinner in the restaurant. Bill
Not sure if this one counts since there are locomotives and a caboose in the roundhouse
And another favorite of mine
Here are 2 of some old depots on the GTW line near my house.
2 Different stations,
1st one is in Mt Clemens taken last January.
2nd is a very similar station in New Haven MI
Here is the East Broad Top roundhouse in Orbisonia/Rockhill Furnace with #15 fired up inside for the day's work
A sign on the roundhouse wall at a blind corner
And the station
There was a cartoon in Model Railroader some decades ago depicting a guy showing his basement off to another guy. There is a magnificent cityscape, transitioning off to a rural scene.
Obviously in answer to a query from his guest, the host replies "Train? What train?"

A Hike in the Allegheny National forest, North Country Trail. This would have been logging railroads.
Well, Paul, you pushed the right button. Not only are your photos outstanding, but you gave some other excellent photographers encouragement to add their photos.
A special tip of the hat goes to David Albright, Kent, and Rixter for going out into cold weather with cameras; to Jdeveleerjr for nicely processed, crisp images; to Ace for the shot of the fondly-remembered Espee blades; and to Steve C and Mike CT for braving copperheads and poison ivy to get down in the foliage for their photos.
And Paul . . . where did you take that first photo that shows the track cresting a grade and then curving to the left on a bridge?
Hi Tom:
Thank you for the kind words. I enjoy sharing my photography as well as learning from others images.
That first picture is around Iona Island at Bear Mt. State Park in New York - about an hour north of NYC. I too enjoy the pictures taken in less than ideal weather.
For me the fog, snow, and thunderstorms are all alarm bells to grab my camera and head out to the rails.
All the best,
Paul
Thank you Tom. I must admit I had the time of my life that morning. That wasn't even the best one I got, but it was the only rail-related photo. Just for giggles and grins, here's one from the following spring, same location.
I took this photo about ten years ago....somewhere in western ohio. On a whim, I laid on the grass and shot right up along the sign's pole.
what a great thread, some fabulous pics.
I know "Hurry, the RED KNOB" is a train but I thought any railfan would appreciate all those RED KNOBS!!!
I must say these are some great photos. I think it is important to capture these images and preserve them, everything from road power, to switchers, to the signals and tracks, stations, yards and the folks that keep the railroad running. Thanks for all the great photos.
"and the folks that keep the railroad running."
OH, you mean these guys at the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad?
"I've been working on the railroad, all the live long day"
Great photos everyone. There is so much more to the railroad than just the locomotives and freight cars. A lot of times these things get overlooked. Here are some of my photos.
