Every now and then when I hit the direction button, the engine stops abruptly. I know from experience that the control settings for that engine have changed somehow as I usually use a setting of 1 smph/s for stopping. This appears to be a random event at different times for different engines. Do others experience this? Is this the result of a bug?

I have also experienced unexplained changes in acc and dec rates. Also, volume settings for bell, whistle, and others, which are supposed to be multiples of 10, come up with last digits of 1 or 2.
RJR Maybe you and I are the only ones experiencing these things, but I doubt it. I've just accepted these burps in the system as being just that. But I'm curious if this was some of the data corruption you were referring to in my other thread about remotes?
Beats me. This happens occasionally one my computers also---settings that I never change wind up getting changed.
I don't know why the volume settings move to a setting that cannot be selected.
RJR I guess you and I are the only ones getting these wild changes. I run my trains and push the system pretty hard using many of it's features. Or people are just accepting these things as computer normalities. With time we learn how to handle these changes. Maybe the title of this post was misleading.

I really hadn't noticed. I usually scroll down the speed first before using the dir button or double tap the brake. I'll take note next time at the layout.
Gregg, how about the goofy sound settings? Do you ever get those? Check your max speed settings if you ever lowered those from the max.

We've spent away too much time building and not enough time running. That's going to change. I'm not sure what you mean. The only thing I, ve noticed is the head light turning off by itself.
Gregg,
the head light turning off by itself.
That's a known, random bug in DCS 4.30 that can occur when turning smoke on or off.
I assume when you start running your engines, you will set the various speeds like accelerate, decel, max speed, etc. I also assume you will set the various sound levels. What RJR and I are saying is that sometimes these settings get changed. What is even more unusual is that the sound settings that normally go in increments of ten will have numbers in between like 22 instead of 20. What makes these things happen is a mystery to me.
What release of DCS are you using?
Barry, in the other thread here I said the remotes are 4.30 and the TIU's are 4.20. Is that the problem?
GHD, all my units are the same version. I am getting the odd number sound volumes. I don't know if it is just one remote or one loco. Haven't concentrated on this issue. I'm focusing on replacing my old NJ Intl switch motors with DZ1000s, and their controls. This is a major project.

There was quite a bit that changed from DCS 4.20 in DCS 4.30. If you have devices that are at different DCS releases, it's truly a waste of time discussing any anomalies you might be encountering, since they could simply be due to a software mismatch.
When you get everything on the same software release, and if you're still having issues, then we might have something to discuss.
