The yard crew at Rockport yard was kind enough to allow me to photograph Reading #2100 on her way to restoration in Cleveland. For more information go to www.fireup2100.org.

Good to see progress on the trip "home." A lot of hate has been directed at this engine for many (valid) reasons, one item is the red stripe. Believe the strip was inspired by AFT Reading 2101. Oh well, a little black paint and its all gone.
Thanks for posting.
The red stripe might be from it's day's as a leased engine to the Chessie System for it's anniversary or Freedom train. I think it was 2100 but I am not for sure, but it was a Reading T-1 for sure.
It is nice to see a Reading T-1 being restored.

Uh...wrong locomotive. 2101 was the AFT/Chessie locomotive.

I was close, right? I know that at least one Reading T-1 was leased.

The 2100 has a red stripe from her days on the scenic railroad. For a reason I don't know the owner painted the locomotive with a red stripe.

Lee,
Good news! I checked with the judges and they'll give you a pass.
Congrats,
The red paint was applied after the engine went north to Canada, then west to its last 'home'. Silver on cylinder and valve covers, along with the thin yellow stripe along the running boards and steps would be 'Reading Rambles' dressing up.
I hope the 2100 will return in its working attire, all black with the 'graphite' smoke box front end. {I could live with the "Rambles" attire... }.
Just seeing her restored properly is the most important thing!
Usually, crews remove the headlight, whistle, bell and marker lights when transporting a loco or storing it in a unsecured space. Often most of the gauges and other removable parts are also stored. (Crews refer this as a loco's jewelry.
