I bought an MTH protosound 3 ready to run engine on ebay that was the engine portion of MTH's 30-4232-1 set.  I am about to show more of my ignorance about this hobby.  Are the RTR engines DCS compliant?  I tried to enter it into the DCS system but the system can't find it.  I tried removing the breather cover to get to the switch DCS/DCC but the thing either doesn't come off or is jammed.  A little help here if you have a second.

Thanks again.

Gunrunner, nice to hear from you again.  You won't believe what I did wrong.  Rookie mistake.  When I added my current engines to the WIFI app, all 6 engines were familiar to the TIU.  When I tapped add engine, all 6 popped up on the screen and I added them in less than 10 seconds.

This engine was NEW.  New to the TIU, not new to the engine world.  2015.  I forgot to remove the other 6 from the track.  I know, set up a new engine test track that you can introduce the engine to the TIU, they can have coffee, discuss days events, and then the new engine will work just fine in the DCS system.  My engine didn't have the switch shown in the picture you provided, thanks by the way, I finally got the cover off the back, it was on backwards, and answered the question, "I wonder if it's in DCC mode?"  It wasn't.  So I removed the other 6, tried again, jackpot.  It runs nice now.

Thanks for the help, as always, and to anyone who may read this after the fact, thanks for thinking about me, and I hope this helped you in some way.

John
