I'm wondering what other members of the forum are using for fast-trip circuit breakers for protecting their locomotive electronics. I have been using fast-blow 7.5 Amp in-line fuses, but am seeking a better solution. I am powering my layout with an electronic ZW, with four 180 watt "bricks", and using a Legacy (version 1.3) control system. I'm using A and D circuits for track power, B circuit for turnout power, and C circuit for lights and accessories. I appreciate any input regarding brands, suppliers, and Amp ratings. Thanks in advance.

Plenty of info here using the "SEARCH" function at the top of the page.
Here's our solution at the NJ Hi-Railers. These trip extremely fast, can be set for different thresholds, have an audio indicator when they trip and can be set to auto-reset. They work so well I don't even turn down track power when putting a train ion the track anymore. We've virtually eliminated any electronics problems since we installed them.
I vote for the Airpax Instant Hydraulic-Magnetic Circuit Breaker. I use one on each of the A and D channels of my pw ZW. Between the grands and myself, I have not had a problem.
This subject just came up last week.

But I'll second what @Chris Lord says. They should be in stock by the end of the year for early next.

I have to be honest, I don't believe you need anything but the circuit protection on the PH180, it's an excellent electronically controlled circuit breaker. I use four PH180 bricks on my layout, and they've never failed to trip instantly on any derailment that shorts the rails. We've also used these exclusively for our modular club layout, they've been dead reliable.
