So I got a big tube of red and tacky, spooned some into a jar, put some Saran Wrap over the tube for storing. Then I used a toothpick to apply it. I am wondering if there are better methods for storing and applying? Perhaps a syringe?

Yes, the syringe with the small "pin-hole" curved tip works great.
A dog syringe works very well and does'nt leak. Dave G.
Is there some kind of specification on the syringe? I have some but they were to small for the grease to push through.
Do you use with a needle or without?
We have an animal supply place local and they have about 50 different syringe sizes.
I use these...I believe Hobbico makes some as well. I get mine from Amazon.

THAT is the one that Hot Water and I use.
I use that curved syringe too. Works great!
Do you guys pull it into the syringe or spoon it in?
I use a syringe that was in an old oiler kit for Rotron fans. The end is small but it does work for me.
