Red ‘Atomic’ brush plates

Curious about the red brush plate as i have only seen them with the non slotted brush holders at auctions have not seen a red brush holder that can unscrew with a flat head screwdriver.

The 726 Berk 1946 version  the ones i have seen and own several have black brush plates that have brush holders that one can unscrew with a flat head screwdriver to change out brushes.

Question- can  the non slotted red brush holder itself be unscrewed by hand or does the brush plate itself have to be removed first?

The non slotted brush holders are crimped in and cannot be unscrewed to access the brushes.
