Mentioned in a York wrap-up post about the detailed, animated, and sometimes whimsical layout built by the Red Lion Model Railroaders. Well, here is a photo of their version of a "Lionel box" car. And another of member Don McCully giving my wife, Julie a run down of all the scratch built buildings on the layout. If you've gone to York but haven't visited the club layout in the historic Red Lion train station, it's worth the after-hours visit. Club members are very welcoming and can't wait to share the stories behind their layout.

I second the recommendation to visit the Red Lion club.  We went a few years ago, and plan to go again some time in the future.

When we went, we did it on a Wednesday.  First we hit all the bandit meets, had a quick lunch, then went to White Rose Hobbies just West of York on Rt. 30, then on to Toy Trains Unlimited in Hanover and Iron Horse Trains also in Hanover (inside the Yesteryear Antique Center -- worth checking out while there), and finally on to Red Lion.  We got there before opening, so all this can be easily done in a day.
