I have a Lionel Colorado & Southern 2-8-0 SKU#2431350 that I want to remove the lettering from so I can backdate it to how it appeared around 1905. What is the best way to remove the lettering without damaging the paint?
I use hardware store lacquer thinner as long as it’s a diecast shell. Just put it on a rag and give a quick couple of swipes. Don’t let it sit there on the surface. The black paint is very durable. Let it air dry for a day. I still apply a clear gloss coat before applying decals.
