What is the problem that is occurring? Is it failing to recognize the remote, the TIU connected to the PC, etc.? Did you power cycle the TIU after completing the upgrade? Maybe the file you downloaded was corrupt, try downloading it again.
ill try
Charlie,
Suggestions:
- Turn TIU power off and then back on after each upgrade
- Make sure that the cable between the ProtoDispatch and ProtoCast ports is removed prior to attempting the remote upgrade
- Make certain that the telephone handset cable is plugged into the Remote Input port, not the AIU Input port
- Make sure that the telephone handset cable is a 4-conductor cable, not a 2-conductor cable
- Try a different telephone handset cable.
I did all that and reset computer and all. I used the phone cord I have when my wireless card in my tiu came loose once. I know the cord is the right one. im stuck no idea what to do now. because of my hours I cant call tech support.
ok figure this out. I got wondering so I pulled out my handy dandy volt tester on my phone handset cord. its good. so now im really stumped. the only thing I noticed is that the ends are opposite from one another.
Charlie,
Tell us exactly what occurs when you attempt to update the remote. Include what you do and what happens.
I start by hooking up all my cables and bringing up the loader program on my computer. then I turn on my power supply to my tiu with track disconnected. I then go to loader program and hit the upload to remote tab and begin to follow instructions. I hit the ok button it then brings up the "make sure it is plugged into the remote connection and not the aiu connection ect. ect." I hit ok. my remote at this time is off but I've tried it both ways on and off since it does not specify. I hit ok and it tells me to hit and hold power. I do so. it almost instantly tells me to release and I hit ok. it tells me to hit and hold power again so on and so on. forever.
I forgot to put in the select your program screen I use the "remote4p3" program.
can you put video's on here. if so how ill record what I do and what happens
You mention you start up by hooking up all the cables then bringing up the loader program. Exactly what cables are you hooking up?
There should only be the power cable to the TIU and the phone cord to the remote control. No other cables should be connected to the TIU for remote programming. Is this what you have?
no I have the usb to db9 serial cable also it hooks up the laptop to the tiu and the power brick to fixed 1 and the phone cable is all
I'm not sure you can power the TIU via the FIXED 1, since all power to the inputs is to be off. Can you power via AUX input?
The remote must be off until instructed to hold down the button. Try another set of remote batteries. I had to start completely over with 2 out of 8 remote but they eventually upgraded. Start with bringing up the loader and then the cables. There are no short cuts.Follow the instructions to the letter.
Yes, you are correct, the USB cable as well.
As for power, which brick do you have? You can use fixed 1, however can you remove the barrel connector from the adapter and use the AUX power input on the side near where the computer cable is plugged in?
Do you have another phone in your house that uses a handset cable? If not, Radio Shack, Best buy, or your local grocery store usually has them.
ok figured it out. some how two of the pins in my remote plug got moved to where they were overlapping. I pulled the remote apart straightened out the pins and now no problem took the programming first try. thank you all for your help.
