i was trying to figure out how to remove the coupler from this Lionel truck with moving roller bearings so I can add kadees. Any hints?

All you need to be left with is the bolster and the bolster frame. The rest of the truck is unnecessary. Dremel on the red lines.

Does that mean there is no way to do this that’s reversible?
It’s not going to be reversible. In order to clear the kadee box you need to lose the loop that the lobster claw is attached to the truck with.

Correct! Once you cut off all the crap holding the claw, it is no longer "reversible".

NOT ever reversible!!!!
You can pull those off without destructive removal. There is a tab you bend and it slides out. It’s rhe tab that keeps the remote uncoupler plate from coming out. If you bend the tab towards the non coupler end the, the plate comes off and the coupler slides out.
For some cars (like the PS-1s, IIRC) you don’t need to remove the tongue. For these cars, it can be done with just a pair of pliers, and then point the tongues inside
others... cut them off!
Thanks!

Thanks for the help. I ended up using the dremel.
Would someone be willing to recommend the best kadee couplers and explain what the new type E coupler head offers.
Recommedation of screw to mount the kadees and where to get it.
Are there pre made pads to use so the height is correct.
743s are short shank which i use on most of my steam era stuff, 745s are medium which I use on most of my modern era stuff, and 746s are long which I use on the big stuff like auto racks.
