Replacing a cab light on a Lionchief Plus RS3

The cab light is probably an LED, so any white LED should be good, just replace the one on the harness.

It is unusual looking, it's almost like a little circuit board.  

Those are two surface mount LED's.  They could be replaced on that strip.  Looks like they're wired in parallel.

I extracted mine from the cab just to get a better look, no bulbs at all though.

They have two flat LED's surface mounted.

Learning a lot, loads of electronics, it's definitely not like my MPC engine! 

I'm not handy with the soldering iron. The replacement is only $5.50, I may go that route.

For $5.50, I'd buy the replacement.  Of course, there will be $10 shipping...

You might wait until you have a few items to order.  I try to build my orders to Lionel to at least $100 before I pull the trigger, lowers the sting of the shipping.

I have a lionchief Rs3 and cab light is on with ac power, but not with DC......seems like issue might be similar?

Reverse the polarity of the DC and see if the light comes on.

Hey John, if you mean red to black/black to red coming off the CW80, I tried that, still lights out in the cab.

So now my testing has included both 'wall warts' and transformers. 

The CW-80 is an AC transformer, that won't change anything.  Someone mentioned DC, that's what I was responding to.
