Hello everyone trainfam here,
About 5 months ago, I purchased a early Lionel 29 day coach or 3 trolley. from “the bay”. The car has obviously been restored at some point and the trucks have either been replated or are most likely Jimmy Cohen repros. Anyhow, I’m not sure if the cars body is actually a original Lionel piece, or a reproduction. There are not tags or forms of identification to tell me wether or not it’s a Jimmy Cohen piece or a pridelines. From what I’ve seen all Cohens have a tag identifying them as such. And all pridelines are embossed with the pridelines name. Sounds like a original, right? Well here’s the catch. There is no “LIONEL MFG CO. NY” embossing on the bottom of the car. Strange. In my greensburg guide book, it notes that in 1907, Lionel did produce a number 3 trolley that did NOT have a floor embossing. Maybe I have that trolley, but the trucks have been swapped? If anyone has any ideas on what I have please let me know in this forum. Here are some photos:
