Atlas 36 ft Woodside Reefer

The Atlas #8037-4 "Union Line" 36 foot reefer is a very nicely detailed rendition of the classic 36 foot woodside reefer.  This model was made by Atlas exclusively for AM Hobbies. The car is painted yellow with red trim.  Lettering is Pennsylvania Lines car number 611083. The detailing on the model is very well done.  This includes near scale rungs, door latches and brake wheel.  The underbody is fully detailed with appropriate brake gear.

I am looking for prototype photos or other information about this particular car.

A photo of a similar but much earlier woodside reefer is attached.

I think the " Union Star Line" can trace its origins to the Post Civil War period. It was an attempt at Fast Freight service prior to the practice of car interchange on railroads. Over the years, railroads may have assigned cars to this service. I believe that during the 1920s , the PRR became involved with Fruit Growers Express service and provided cars to FGEX. Use of the Star Line Herald may have been discontinued about this time.

The car in this photo made for AM Hobbies appears to date to the post World War 1 time period so perhaps it would be at home on a 1920s inspired layout. It is very colorful and nicely done in my opinion. The car shown in the Despatch shops prototype photo appears to be from World War one or slightly prior.
