My wife and I rode the Durango & Silverton train this past Thursday in Durango, CO. Our original booking was for the full ride to Silverton and back, but a landslide halted traffic to Silverton. Instead we were reassigned to the Cascade Canyon Express.

On the ride back, our locomotive experienced mechanical issues related to a boiler/“water tank”. They had a diesel run up to take over and get us back to Durango.

One day we will go back and ride the full thing - hopefully there won’t be another landslide.
